Role Overview: Project Manager for Innovation

As a pivotal member of Lubrizol Life Science's (LLS) Beauty and Home divisions, you will lead and manage critical innovation projects that drive sustainable growth. This role requires adeptness in navigating complex challenges, providing insightful analysis to inform decision-making, and fostering relationships across a diverse, global organization.

Your primary responsibilities will include planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all facets of strategic projects within the Beauty and Home sectors. You will coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with business and technical leaders to define project scope, maintain timelines, and enhance project management processes to boost innovation success rates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring accountability for project outcomes and adherence to relevant processes within the Beauty and Home segments.
  • Define expected business outcomes for each project, understanding the associated value propositions, including marketing strategies (positioning, placement, pricing, and promotion), and articulating results in terms of quality, time, scope, and cost.
  • Develop and refine operational mechanisms, including tools and processes, to enhance the execution of assigned innovation projects.
  • Create comprehensive project and implementation plans, incorporating risk assessments and contingency strategies to accommodate unforeseen events and shifts in direction.
  • Assess risk/reward dynamics and communicate effectively about potential risks that may impact objectives and deliverables.
  • Negotiate with resource managers to address identified resource constraints, demonstrating independent decision-making capabilities.
  • Regularly update business leadership on project status, milestones, schedules, and budget compliance.
  • Foster project management expertise within LLS through mentorship and coaching.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferably in a Science-related field).
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in leading large, complex projects, with a preference for experience from innovation to commercialization.
  • Minimum of 5 years working within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of project management principles (PMP certification is advantageous).
  • Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • A mindset geared towards change management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
