Role Summary
In this position, you will serve as the primary project leader responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of control systems initiatives for designated clients. You will either perform or delegate tasks necessary to ensure the full realization of projects, which includes hardware configuration, system programming, installation management, system and network commissioning, and project closure. You will also be accountable for the financial performance of the projects you oversee, including budget management, invoicing, and collections. Striking a balance between client satisfaction and project profitability is essential. You will actively seek opportunities for additional work through change orders and maintain clear communication with clients throughout all project phases. Additionally, you will ensure the effective execution of warranty obligations and provide leadership to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative staff as needed. Adherence to all legal and ethical standards is paramount, as is compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute standard installation hardware design and software programming as required, ensuring clarity in design and operation for clients and team members.
- Proactively seek additional work through change orders while assessing the impact of client communications and changes in project scope.
- Oversee the selection, procurement, budgeting, and scheduling of materials necessary for assigned projects.
- Request and evaluate pricing from external vendors and subcontractors, ensuring all contractual terms are met.
- Coordinate job site logistics for the placement of panels and field devices, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Manage the loading, verification, and commissioning of system controllers, confirming complete system functionality and addressing any issues that arise.
- Handle project costs, invoicing, and collections, ensuring timely and accurate billing to clients while maintaining profitability.
- Provide guidance and technical support to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, and System Designers, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Communicate project status to management and provide forecasts for revenue, costs, and margins.
- Issue warranty letters to clients upon project completion and ensure warranty obligations are fulfilled.
- Develop comprehensive project plans and coordinate resources to guarantee timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Conduct site-specific training for clients on system operations, ensuring they are well-informed and equipped to manage the system.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors, participating in project meetings as necessary.
- Uphold safety standards with a strong emphasis on the well-being of employees and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Essential:
- A technical associate's degree coupled with two years of field experience, or four years of equivalent experience in the HVAC sector.
- Hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC control systems is required.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences effectively.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently.
- Proficient computer skills are necessary.
- Solid understanding of control theory and HVAC systems is essential.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with project accounting, cost principles, and contracting is preferred.
