Assistant Director of Human Resources

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team. This key role will focus on recruitment and employee engagement efforts for the Columbus Service Area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Owns the recruitment, orientation, and onboarding initiatives for new employees.
  • Coordinates with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and candidate selection criteria.
  • Sources applicants through online channels, such as online recruiting boards and professional networks.
  • Collaborates with the executive director of human resources and hiring managers to create job descriptions and interview questions that reflect the requirements for each position.
  • Compiles lists of most suitable candidates by assessing their resumes, CVs, portfolios, and references.
  • Organizes and attends job fairs and recruitment events to build a strong candidate pipeline.
  • Assesses campus needs relating to diversity, equity, and belonging in hiring practices and employee engagement.
  • Assists with employee Affirmative Action and other Equal Employment Opportunity programs and initiatives.
  • Represents the College at various community, civic, professional meetings, and conferences, as requested.
  • Works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Human Resources and Campus Leadership team to identify employee engagement gaps.
  • Works with and educates supervisors and colleagues to engage with new hires fully.
  • Conducts stay and exit interviews on a regular and consistent basis to uncover and identify gaps.
  • Assists academic chairs with the recruitment and hiring of adjunct faculty.
  • Oversees adjunct onboarding processes (including new employee paperwork, compliance status, training & orientation).
  • Plans and oversees the annual campus Employee Recognition Program.
  • Leads the employee engagement committee.
  • Coordinates and/or delivers training opportunities for staff and faculty (including required training, enrichment opportunities in professional development and individualized training as needed).
  • Assists visitors and telephone callers.
  • Answers general information questions regarding employment.
  • Supports the Executive Director of Human Resources in implementing HR programs, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • One to three years of related work experience.
  • OR an associate degree or industry-related certification and three to four years of related work experience.
  • One year of full-cycle recruitment experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
  • Workday HCM experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Employee event planning experience or involvement.
