About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our team at the Ohio Department of Health. As the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will play a critical role in defining agency goals and objectives, developing policies and procedures, and designing and scheduling programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the agency's chief human resources officer, assisting the director in defining agency goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement agency-wide personnel and supervisory policies and procedures.
  • Direct labor relations in the development and implementation of disciplinary policies and oversee EEO functions for the agency.
  • Oversee daily operations of position management, payroll/benefits, and process improvement/data units, ensuring compliance with civil service laws, rules, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assure that the director's exercise of authority over ODH employees is in compliance with labor agreements and civil service rules and laws.
  • Develop and monitor office budget.
  • Coordinate with various department offices and departmental committees regarding human resource administration and operational issues.
  • Supervise staff, including reviewing and assigning work, interviewing, selecting and training new employees, and evaluating employee performance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have education and/or experience in human resources or other relevant experience as determined by the appointing authority. You will also need to possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
