Position: Plastic Materials Engineer


Role Summary:
The Plastic Materials Engineer is tasked with the innovation and development of plastic-based materials and products. This role encompasses the creation of specifications, the establishment of manufacturing control protocols, and the design of components and assemblies. This position requires on-site presence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and enhance processes for plastic or injection-mold manufacturing.
  • Improve and innovate injection-molding machinery.
  • Conduct research to develop advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Evaluate manufacturing data to propose enhancements.
  • Assess production lines and machinery for efficiency.
  • Guarantee the quality of molded components.
  • Design and develop engineered plastic components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Define optimal conditions for molding processes.
  • Create essential components for production.
  • Ensure the production environment is suitable for plastic manufacturing.
  • Examine quality control measures and rectify issues.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and external vendors.
  • Review and analyze existing validation documentation.
  • Generate new reports and validation checks.
  • Perform moldflow analysis, part advisor evaluations, finite element assessments, and stress/fatigue analyses on plastic materials.
  • Design both hot and cold runner molds.
  • Develop 3D solid mold designs.
  • Create water flow diagrams and hot runner wiring schematics.
  • Conduct mold-filling simulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Plastics Engineering or a related engineering field.

Experience:

  • Experience in a plastic manufacturing setting (extrusion, injection, compression, hot embossing).
  • Proficient understanding of polymer material properties, plastic molding techniques, surface treatment, heat transfer, and related concepts.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to opportunities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, effective documentation practices, and adherence to manufacturing standards.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to model moderately complex components is preferred.
