Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver expert engineering and design support for virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere 7.x+, HA, DRS, and VMWare Horizon 8+.
  • Architect and implement solutions for VMware vSphere/ESXi, Horizon, and SAN technologies.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for multiple small data center systems, ensuring optimal performance of VMware ESXi servers and virtual machines.
  • Execute high-level implementations of design for enterprise application systems independently.
  • Engineer and define the foundational structure of virtualization systems, outlining essential design features and elements.
  • Collaborate with designers, test engineers, and users to generate acceptance tests and requirements for complex systems, ensuring all high-level requirements are satisfied.
  • Create and maintain virtualization architectural diagrams and schematic representations.
  • Develop and manage virtual workstation and server images.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards by maintaining virus definitions, patch versions, and security baselines in accordance with government regulations.
  • Evaluate proposed enhancements and modifications from various stakeholders for feasibility and provide constructive feedback.
  • Prepare firmware devices for software upgrades, including programming and verification tasks.
  • Willingness to travel within the continental U.S. as needed (0-30%).
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to obtain Security+ and VMW or VCP certification within six months.
  • Proficient in VMware vSphere.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in implementing and maintaining a VMware VDI (View/Horizon) environment.
  • At least one year of experience supporting a VMware vSphere 7.x+ environment and its components.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon and its components, including Dell, AMD, and WYSE Zero Clients.
  • Familiarity with software-defined storage architecture, SAN technologies, RAID, and data management techniques.
  • Basic networking skills, including knowledge of VLANs and subnets.
  • Understanding of IA controls (DISA STIGS) for both Windows and Linux systems.
  • Experience with backup and restoration operations for Linux systems using commercial off-the-shelf products.
  • Capability to create manual restoration processes or scripted implementations for backup and recovery operations for Linux systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10/11 engineering, optimization, and automation.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and deploying configuration baselines based on DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark.
  • Experience transitioning from physical systems to virtual environments (P2V).
  • Experience in troubleshooting, patching, and administering Linux distributions (RHEL).
  • Experience in managing VMware ESXi servers and vSphere Vcenter Server.
  • Experience in installing and configuring VMware ESXi servers and hypervisors.
