Position Overview

The University of Providence, School of Health Professions, seeks dedicated Clinical Lab Instructors to enhance the educational experience of students in the Medical Assistant program. These instructors are essential in guiding students to become proficient, confident, and skilled healthcare practitioners. Reporting to the Program Director, Clinical Lab Instructors are engaged for specific hours dedicated to clinical courses, allowing for adaptability and alignment with program requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students' clinical skills and offer constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program leaders to meet educational objectives.
  • Stay informed about current best practices in medical assisting and clinical education.
  • Incorporate technology and simulation tools into instructional methods.
  • Provide support and mentorship to students to facilitate their success.
  • Maintain active certifications as a Medical Assistant and in BLS/CPR.
  • Promote a positive and effective learning atmosphere.
  • Act as a role model and mentor for students.
  • Ensure student satisfaction and achievement of program goals.
  • Participate in the design, assessment, and evaluation of clinical courses.
  • Manage and deliver clinical lab instruction.
  • Utilize personal devices for university systems and software.
  • Contribute to committees within the School of Health Professions.
  • Comply with employment agreements, university policies, and legal standards.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Certified Medical Assistant in good standing (Preferred: NHA CCMA Certification)
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification
  • EPIC Trained

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Allied Health (clinical, science, etc.)

Experience:

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, educational theories, and instructional techniques.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a Clinical Lab Instructor, including online teaching in a healthcare-related discipline.
  • Experience in developing clinical lab skills curriculum, including online curriculum development and documented program evaluation experience.
