POSITION SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse / Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the examination, treatment, or diagnostic procedures as directed by physicians, adhering to established protocols and practices. This role serves as the primary link between patients, healthcare staff, and providers, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to address patient needs effectively. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, triaging patient inquiries, managing prescription refills, completing necessary prior authorizations, and supporting fellow team members. You will provide guidance to: CNAs and Schedulers, while receiving direction from: Providers, Nurse Coordinators, and Clinical Managers/Supervisors.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Licensure/Certification, required.
  • Adherence to the latest continuing education standards as mandated by State/Federal licensure requirements, required.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • BLS certification, required.
  • Completion of a medical assisting program and successful passage of the CMA/RMA Certification Examination from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists, maintaining current CMA/RMA credentials, required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in Medical Terminology, required.
  • Understanding of Basic Medical Assistant Principles and Procedures, required.
  • Keyboarding Skills, required.
  • Basic Office Skills, required.
