Nurse Residency Program: Emergency Department Track

ChristianaCare is committed to supporting new nurses in their transition to practice. Our Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive and supportive environment for nurses to develop their skills and confidence in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
Program OverviewThe 26-week program is a combination of classroom and clinical experiences, led by experienced emergency nurses. Participants will work under the supervision of experienced nurses and will have the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of areas, including patient assessment, medication administration, and emergency department procedures.
Requirements- Graduating from an accredited nursing school before June 2025 (BSN preferred)
- BLS required
- Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program
- Eligible for Delaware licensure as a Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse
- Communication from the Talent Acquisition Team about specific next steps, including video interviews and clinical references
- Applications to be reviewed by residency coordinators on December 27th
- Digital real-time interviews will begin the second week of February 2025
- Offers to be made beginning March 2025
Upon successful program completion, participants will be hired as a staff nurse in one of the three Emergency Departments within ChristianaCare. The program offers a supportive and comprehensive environment for nurses to develop their skills and confidence in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
We are committed to supporting all nurses with under a year of experience through a nurse residency program. Our goal is to provide a smooth transition from graduate nurse to staff RN role in the Emergency Department.
