Position Overview:
As a key member of the finance team, the Airport Accountant is responsible for executing professional accounting tasks, managing financial documentation, and ensuring adherence to departmental accounting policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date accounts payable and receivable.
- Conduct general lease management activities.
- Collaborate with Airport Administration and the Finance Manager to formulate and oversee financial programs and policies.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual Airport budget and maintain financial control records.
- Prepare, analyze, and review revenue estimates, reimbursements, expenditures, and other financial accounts.
- Support compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, county policies, and airport regulations.
- Engage in the development of leases, contracts, and agreements with airlines and other airport stakeholders.
- Create and manage standard leases and monitor leased spaces for various operations.
- Compile data for diverse financial reports requiring the application of accounting principles.
Additional Duties:
- Aid in the creation and distribution of the Airport Certification Manual and Emergency Plan, coordinating with responsible agencies.
- Support the development and updates of the Airport Security Manual as mandated by federal regulations.
- Oversee general purchasing tasks, including processing purchase orders and vendor communications.
- Develop spreadsheets to track airline and airport activities, expenses, and projected revenues.
- Maintain records and generate reports on various airport-related matters, including tenant leases and budget summaries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in airport administration or operations, including supervisory roles.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in operating office equipment and software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to supervise administrative functions effectively.
- Knowledge of departmental goals, policies, and procedures, along with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to produce clear reports.
- Capability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders.
- Understanding of accounting terminology and the ability to prepare various documents and reports.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
