Job Summary:

We are seeking highly qualified individuals to join our team as Lab Instructors/Preceptors in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Lab Instructor/Preceptor, you will be responsible for conducting and facilitating labs and tutoring for students in the Paramedic and EMT programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and facilitate labs and tutoring for students in the Paramedic and EMT programs
  • Assign and supervise students in open labs and instructional assistants during lab/skill learning/practice days
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of students
  • Assist with administrative duties as required

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of course content and effective teaching strategies
  • Demonstrated experience through academic preparation, training, and experience to teach the courses or topics to which they are assigned
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic, and/or VA –Paramedic Certification or higher with 3-5 years progressive field experience in the emergency setting or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable in course content and effective in teaching their assigned subjects, and capable through academic preparation, training, and experience to teach the courses or topics to which they are assigned, at the EMT Certification level
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician, VA EMT Certification or higher, with 1-3 years progressive field experience in the emergency setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Virginia Education Coordinator (EC) certification
  • ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, PALS/EPC Certification or Instructor
  • NAEMSE
