POSITION SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, the Financial Operations Analyst will deliver administrative proficiency in finance, budgeting, grant management, and procurement. This role encompasses decision-making responsibilities for all research and training initiatives at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and for principal investigators not affiliated with a research center.

The responsibilities include overseeing grant-funded budgets and expense accounts, reviewing and processing all non-salary journals and salary adjustments, managing invoicing, and serving as a technical resource and advisor. The Analyst will exercise discretion and independent judgment while leading financial discussions as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Budget Management: Maintain and oversee grant-funded budgets and expense accounts, ensuring compliance with university and sponsoring agency policies. Monitor expenditures to adhere to federal regulations.
  2. Invoicing Oversight: Manage departmental invoicing for grant-funded projects, review central research administration staff's invoicing, and collaborate to resolve any discrepancies.
  3. Financial Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations of grant-funded projects, addressing any budget exceptions and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  4. Guidance and Compliance: Advise faculty and staff on available funds for informed purchasing and hiring decisions, ensuring adherence to project budgets and contract terms.
  5. Budget Preparation: Prepare and maintain project budgets by analyzing program plans and past expenditures, making projections, and recommending actions to optimize funding resources.
  6. Training and Support: Train new department administrators on university financial procedures and cover vacancies as needed by directly engaging with faculty and research staff.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Support the leadership team in executing departmental strategic planning goals and participate in the development of operational policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.
