About Our Team:
The Media Platform team focuses on enhancing the application experience related to performance for TikTok users.

This team works in conjunction with all departments involved in video creation and consumption to deliver comprehensive optimization solutions, encompassing client-side operations, shooting, uploading, playback, delivery, and player functionalities.


We seek backend engineers with robust problem-solving abilities and a solid grasp of algorithms to develop and maintain highly available, scalable, and reliable systems.

You will collaborate closely with global engineering and product teams in a dynamic and impactful environment.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure Engineering, Data Engineering, and Algorithm teams to address challenges that drive large-scale global infrastructure.
  • Identify security and privacy concerns within a complex end-to-end video platform and develop tools to mitigate these issues.
  • Create reusable software and enhance infrastructure operations alongside improving developer efficiency.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, including source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and profiling.
  • Over 4 years of experience in programming and scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Golang, or Python.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of video/audio technologies, video codecs, media containers, and video streaming algorithms is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in multimedia file analysis tools or prototype development.
  • Proficient programming skills in C, C++, and scripting languages.
  • Experience tackling ambiguous challenges and navigating uncertainty.
