Key Responsibilities of a Terminal Operations Supervisor:

This role oversees the operational, maintenance, and customer service sectors of the terminal, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and operational policies. You will facilitate daily communication with customers, terminal staff, internal teams, and external partners.

Expectations for the Terminal Operations Supervisor:
  • Possession or ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as mandated by the Maritime Transportation Security Act.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a focus in technical or business fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably with large teams.
  • At least 7 years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in customer relations and emergency response, with knowledge of incident command systems.
  • Data analytics skills to identify issues, discover improvement opportunities, and prevent future problems.
  • Experience in budget creation, analysis, and management.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing processes and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and process flowchart software; familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, understanding the challenges faced by other departments.
  • Proven skills in generating comprehensive reports and delivering effective presentations.
  • Knowledge of environmental, DOT, USCG, safety, health, and regulatory standards; experience with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA.
  • Customer service orientation with diplomatic communication skills; adept at problem-solving.
  • Experience in efficiency improvement projects within plants or terminals.
  • Desirable experience in operating regulated pipelines and marine operations.
Daily Responsibilities:

Your core duties include:
  • Leading, coaching, and developing employees to meet company objectives; monitoring training needs; managing the disciplinary process and performance evaluations.
  • Overseeing a large team; responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and developing direct reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational policies; assessing training programs to meet company standards.
  • Developing and managing operational budgets, controlling monthly expenses, and creating action plans to address discrepancies.
  • Driving performance based on clear KPIs and targets across various domains including SHEQ, Sustainability, Operations, Service Delivery, and Asset Management.
  • Coordinating the efficient use of all asset team resources to achieve business objectives.
  • Managing customer service and logistics for scheduling and planning land and marine movements.
  • Investigating incidents, preparing reports, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Tracking and reporting operational statistics through continuous improvement of systems, processes, and quality outcomes.
  • Addressing customer complaints regarding terminal operations to ensure satisfactory resolutions.
  • Collaborating with management to assess current and future facility needs for programs, personnel, and equipment.
  • Implementing sustainability initiatives and new technologies to reduce the terminal's carbon footprint in alignment with global goals.
  • Utilizing data for environmental compliance and operational performance tracking.
  • Ensuring effective customer stewardship engagements and following up on outstanding issues.
  • Updating and creating terminal procedures as necessary.
  • Producing monthly operational reports and reconciling inventory discrepancies.
  • Approving procurement requests and negotiating pricing as needed.
  • Developing and managing projects to optimize terminal operations and monitor progress.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and acting as the contact point for governmental agencies.
  • Regularly training on federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA requirements.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management that align with the expected scope of this position.

Work Environment:

This position requires working in both an office setting and outdoor environments, with exposure to extreme temperatures and various chemicals. Employees must wear appropriate PPE and may encounter moderate noise levels.

Physical Demands:
