Position Details: This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel obligations. Candidates should be based in California, preferably within the greater Central Coast region, to align with our current clientele in Government Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop solutions tailored to the engineering requirements of municipal clients.
  • Create construction plans and manage plan submissions in accordance with both client and company standards.
  • Draft project specifications in conjunction with design plans and engineering calculations.
  • Prepare accurate construction cost estimates utilizing local pricing resources to reflect current market conditions.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver a comprehensive product package that meets project objectives.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, materials testing, and contractor reports to ensure adherence to project specifications and industry standards under the guidance of a licensed engineer.
  • Prepare and/or review Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Storm Water Control Plans (SWCP), Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (E&SCP), and stormwater reports to ensure compliance with municipal codes and state permit requirements.
  • Draft documentation for Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) including staff reports, contracts, amendments, and other necessary documents for permitting, design, bidding, and awarding processes, following municipal procedures.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Preferably possess EIT certification or commit to obtaining it within one year of employment.
  • Agree to achieve Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP)/Qualified Stormwater Designer (QSD) certification within two years of employment and maintain it throughout tenure.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of design or construction experience in municipal projects (public or private).

Essential Skills:

  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with municipal processes related to Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF/Bluebeam applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Highly organized with the capability to adhere to company templates and procedures while managing multiple tasks at different project stages.

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 15% travel may be necessary for field meetings, site visits for reconnaissance, and design review meetings.
