Position: Events and Programs Coordinator

Status: Part-Time: Variable Hours

Hours: Days and Hours dependent upon need

Reports to: Marketing and Events Manager and Director of Education

Position Overview:

The Events and Programs Coordinator will assist Coastal Roots Farm's Education and Events Departments in delivering engaging public programs and private gatherings. This role is crucial for facilitating farm experiences that ensure a safe, enjoyable, and educational environment for all visitors. Responsibilities include the setup and teardown of events, as well as guiding guests throughout their visit.

This position is available year-round, with increased hours during peak seasons. Evening availability is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Physical Duties:

  • Prepare and dismantle equipment, including chairs, tables, audio-visual systems, lighting, and waste disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities for visitors and staff.
  • Oversee the proper arrangement and upkeep of event spaces.
  • Welcome guests and manage check-in processes.
  • Monitor inventory to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Serve refreshments to attendees.
  • Return equipment to designated storage areas after use.
Administrative Duties:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize software for point of sale, data entry, and financial transactions during events.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Implement and uphold safety protocols.
  • Conduct Farm Tours and participate in team meetings as required.
  • Assist with food preparation and cooking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Strong communication, computer, sales, cash handling, and time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude in a dynamic team environment.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in food preparation, catering, or serving (preferred but not required).
Compensation:

$16-$17 per hour based on experience.

Typical Working Conditions:

The Events and Programs Coordinator will primarily work outdoors and occasionally in an office setting. The role involves exposure to varying temperatures, agricultural chemicals, and loud sounds. Physical demands include lifting and moving heavy items and standing for extended periods.

Essential Physical Tasks:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:
  • Engage in continuous walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk a minimum of 0.5 miles on uneven terrain with elevation changes.
