Key Responsibilities- Genetic Education and Counseling: Provide genetics education to high-risk patients and their families, ensuring they understand their risk factors and options for genetic testing.
- Registration and Scheduling: Register patients for genetic testing and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
- Specimen Collection: Collect specimens for genetic testing and ensure they are properly handled and stored.
- Liaison between Patient, Radiologist, Pathologist, and Referring Physicians: Serve as a liaison between patients, radiologists, pathologists, and referring physicians to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Insurance Verification and Authorization: Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for genetic testing and treatment.
- Patient Support and Education: Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families throughout the genetic testing and treatment process.
- Result Distribution: Distribute positive genetic test results to referring physicians and ensure they are properly documented in the patient's medical record.
- Medical Assistant Experience: 3 years of experience as a medical assistant in an imaging setting is highly preferred.
- Bilingual Skills: Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are required.
