Job Summary

The City of Encinitas, CA is seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Coordinator to provide exceptional front-line customer service to patrons and general administrative support. This is a contract extended part-time position, working 30 hours per week, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Meet and greet center visitors, provide customer service as needed, and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Administrative Support: Perform general clerical and administrative duties, including data entry, record maintenance, and supply management.
  • Program Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations of center programs and projects, including course registrations, account management, and event planning.
  • Communication: Communicate daily with supervisors to discuss activities, equipment, and personnel issues, and develop reports on program effectiveness.
  • Incident Reporting: Identify, document, and report incidents and accidents, and identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Prepare program event and facility promotional materials, including newsletters, calendars, fliers, menus, and brochures.
  • Training and Supervision: May lead in the training and supervision of subordinate recreation staff, volunteers, and independent contractors, and provide input on their performance.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Determine equipment and supply requirements for program activities and obtain and stock supplies as needed.
  • Staff Assistance: Provide staff assistance to the Recreation Services Supervisor(s), including preparing and presenting reports, records, and correspondence.
  • Program Files and Records: Maintain program files, databases, and records, including daily rosters, statistics, program attendance, and related documents.
  • Public Education and Enforcement: Assist in the public education and enforcement of established rules, policies, and procedures at City beaches, City Community Center, park facilities, and events.
  • Safety and Transportation: Adhere to The City of Encinitas and San Dieguito Water District Safety Manual and provide safe transportation for participants of Parks and Recreation and Marine Safety events and activities.
  • Vehicle Use: Use and maintain City vehicles to run errands, including picking up program and event supplies.
  • Meetings and Related Duties: Attend meetings as required and perform related duties and responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in leisure studies, business administration, or a related field, plus four years of responsible recreation program experience, including at least one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
