Job Overview:
The managerial role encompasses a range of responsibilities that may differ in complexity depending on the designated area. Generally, the manager will supervise staff, oversee the medication management process, and ensure the delivery of clinical pharmacy services within their assigned domain. Furthermore, the manager is tasked with providing high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe, effective, and economical use of medications for all patients. This role requires regular communication with healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication therapy management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts all pharmacist duties and responsibilities pertinent to their practice area.
  • Accountable for maintaining 'best practice' standards in clinical care, optimizing patient satisfaction, and achieving an efficient medication use process.
  • Assesses the current pharmacy practices and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Plans and oversees the development of new programs based on identified needs and opportunities.
  • Acts as the first line of management, addressing and resolving employee and patient concerns, seeking guidance from Human Resources or departmental leadership when necessary.
  • Conducts performance management activities for assigned personnel.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels, skill mix, and assignments to support optimal patient care.
  • Responsible for recruitment and hiring processes within the assigned area.
  • Maintains standards, clinical activities, operational functions, and performance metrics that align with clinical, operational, and market demands.
  • Identifies and analyzes changes in medication usage and costs, including factors influencing these trends.
  • Collaborates with pharmacists, physicians, and administrative partners to develop processes or programs addressing identified medication utilization issues.
  • Contributes to the formulation of evidence-based protocols aimed at cost containment and savings.
  • Provides input for staffing and financial budgets for their designated areas.
  • Communicates and ensures the implementation of activities and tools that consistently educate and focus staff on key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing operational contingency plans in collaboration with department leadership as financial or other conditions necessitate.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards within assigned areas and services.
  • Develops, revises, audits, and maintains departmental policies and procedures.
Work is typically conducted in a clinical setting. The manager is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific obligations and adhering to all organizational policies and procedures. Position Details:

Schedule includes every other weekend rotation.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Required)

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience (Required), Minimum of 1 year in a managerial or supervisory capacity (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s):
Licensed Pharmacist (Pennsylvania) - State of Pennsylvania
