Position Summary
Under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, or Superintendent, the Foreperson is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing field electrical construction activities for assigned projects, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This role typically involves managing projects with a team of ten or more employees.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures set forth by Tri-M.
- Maintain compliance with all employment policies and standards of conduct to positively represent the company.
- Oversee the requisition, storage, and security of all tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Manage the procurement, storage, and security of materials.
- Supervise jobsite labor effectively.
- Handle project administrative tasks efficiently.
- Guide assigned personnel to foster their professional development, including providing feedback for performance evaluations.
- Oversee subcontractors and external services.
- Manage the project closeout process effectively.
- Independently manage projects requiring ten or more employees on-site.
Qualifications
Skills and Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus but not mandatory.
- At least 2 years of experience in electrical construction at the Journeyperson level.
- Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program is preferred, along with the ability to obtain relevant electrical licenses.
- Proficient in reading and applying construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a professional approach to managing personnel.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and data entry.
- Thorough understanding of electrical trade practices and applicable building codes.
- Ability to collaborate with other construction trades.
- Self-motivated, confident, and decisive.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Personal tools must be purchased and maintained in good condition.
- Willingness to operate company vehicles and travel to job sites as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 10 hours.
- Capable of standing and climbing for 4 to 6 hours daily.
- Ability to kneel, lift, reach overhead, and bend for 4 to 5 hours daily.
- Walking and twisting for 2 to 3 hours daily.
- Occasional sitting and squatting for 1 to 2 hours daily.
- Must be able to lift weights ranging from 0 to 75 lbs., with varying frequencies.
- Ability to lift objects from the floor to above shoulder height.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks.
- Repetitive use of feet for operating equipment and climbing.
- Vision must be adequate for reading blueprints and color coding.
- Balance is necessary for climbing ladders and working at heights.
- Environmental factors may include exposure to temperature extremes and atmospheric conditions.
- Personal protective equipment is required for safety.
