The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for executing all pharmacist duties and responsibilities within their designated practice area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to 'best practice' standards of clinical care while optimizing patient satisfaction and maintaining an efficient medication use process.
- Evaluate current pharmacy practices and propose enhancements.
- Oversee the planning and development of new programs based on identified needs and opportunities.
- Act as the first line manager, addressing and resolving employee and patient concerns, while seeking guidance from Human Resources or departmental leadership when necessary.
- Conduct performance management activities for assigned staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix to support optimal patient care.
- Manage recruitment and hiring processes for the pharmacy team.
- Maintain operational standards, clinical activities, and performance metrics that align with clinical, operational, and market demands.
- Analyze medication utilization trends and associated costs, identifying factors driving changes.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, and administrative partners to develop processes or programs that address medication utilization issues.
- Contribute to the creation of evidence-based protocols aimed at cost containment and savings.
- Provide input into staffing and financial budgets for assigned areas.
- Communicate and implement activities and tools that educate staff on key performance indicators.
- Ensure the development and execution of operational contingency plans in collaboration with the department leadership team.
- Guarantee compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and corporate standards within assigned areas and services.
- Develop, revise, audit, and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
Work is typically conducted in a clinical environment, with accountability for fulfilling all job-specific obligations and adhering to organizational policies and procedures. The responsibilities outlined in this profile are not exhaustive but represent essential elements necessary for successful job performance.
Additional Competencies: Any department-specific competencies and skills will be considered essential for the role.
Schedule includes every other weekend rotation.
