About The Position

OVERVIEW

Flagstar Bank is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Commercial Loan Officer. This role serves as the main liaison for business clients and affluent individuals. The officer is responsible for securing, assessing, and recommending the approval of commercial financing, including loans, lines of credit, real estate, and construction financing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct interviews and meetings with borrowers to gather loan applications and financial data.
  • Assess the viability of credit extensions by analyzing financial health, cash flow, credit history, and collateral.
  • Prepare written credit authorization requests for the Chief Credit Officer's approval and present them to the relevant decision-makers.
  • Notify loan applicants regarding the outcomes of their loan applications.
  • Review loan documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulatory lending standards.
  • Maintain financial records and diligently monitor all loan covenants and portfolio conditions.
  • Collaborate with fellow loan officers, credit analysts, and various bank divisions to enhance the overall success of the institution.
  • Support marketing initiatives and participate in joint business development efforts with Branch Managers and other executives.
About You

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a financial institution with a strong focus on commercial credit.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit analysis, loan structuring, collateral evaluation, pricing, and management.
  • Ability to operate independently.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to manage a high volume of correspondence and personal interactions.
  • Capacity to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to: sit; use hands for repetitive tasks; and communicate verbally. The employee may occasionally be required to: stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms.

Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, and calculators. The employee must be capable of performing computer work for an average of 6-8 hours daily when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off-site as required by management. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is essential. Must be able to navigate stairs in emergency situations.

Specific lifting abilities required for this role include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amounts of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally, provided all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include: close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection involving small defects or parts.
