About The Position

OVERVIEW

Flagstar Bank is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Commercial Loan Officer. This role serves as the main liaison for business clients and affluent individuals. The officer is responsible for acquiring, assessing, and recommending the approval of commercial financing options, including loans, lines of credit, real estate, and construction financing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct interviews and meetings with borrowers to gather loan applications and financial data.
  • Assess the viability of credit extensions by analyzing financial conditions, cash flow, creditworthiness, and collateral.
  • Prepare written credit authorization requests for the Chief Credit Officer's approval and present them to the relevant authority.
  • Notify loan applicants regarding the acceptance or denial of their loan requests.
  • Review loan documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory lending standards.
  • Maintain financial records and diligently monitor all loan covenants and portfolio conditions.
  • Collaborate with fellow loan officers, credit analysts, and various bank divisions to enhance the overall success of the organization.
  • Support marketing initiatives and participate in joint business development efforts with Branch Managers and leadership.
About You

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a financial institution with a strong focus on commercial credit.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit analysis, loan structuring, collateral evaluation, pricing, and management.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to manage a high volume of correspondence and interactions.
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: sit; use hands in repetitive motions to finger, grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to: stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms.

Must be able to operate standard office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, and calculators. Must be capable of performing work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, as needed. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off-site when required by management. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is essential. Must be able to navigate stairs in emergency situations.

Specific lifting abilities required by this role include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amounts of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are considered sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include: close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection involving small defects and parts.
