As a Merchandise Associate, your primary responsibilities will include organizing and replenishing stock, operating the cash register, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure the store is well-presented.

You will contribute to an exceptional shopping experience for customers by collaborating effectively with the ALDI team and delivering outstanding customer service.

Position Type: Full-Time

Average Hours: 32-40 hours per week

Starting Wage: $18.50 per hour

Wage Increases:
Year 2 - $19.00 | Year 3 - $19.50 | Year 4 - $19.50 | Year 5 - $20.50

Key Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Exhibit the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies, and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as required for the role.
  • Process customer transactions, perform general cleaning tasks, and neatly stock shelves and product displays.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers throughout their experience.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with store management.
  • Provide management with feedback regarding products, inventory discrepancies, scanning issues, and general concerns.
  • Participate in inventory counts as per guidelines and monitor inventory accuracy.
  • Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures to minimize losses.
  • Comply with all established company policies and procedures while maintaining the security and confidentiality of documents and data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stock merchandise from receiving areas to shelves; capable of placing products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and navigate throughout the store.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to be employed in this role at ALDI.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to safely and properly use equipment, including electric/manual hand jacks, floor scrubbers, and cardboard balers.
  • Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stay organized, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, and multitask effectively.
  • Meet any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
