Position Overview

The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the preparation and management of financial documentation in alignment with Blue Mountain Hospital District (BMHD) standards. This position involves engaging with employees, department heads, and vendors in a professional and timely manner to address inquiries and accurately record transactions. Essential skills include multitasking, self-motivation, and organizational abilities, all necessary for thriving in a dynamic work environment. The role also includes active participation in departmental performance enhancement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Blue Mountain Hospital District (BMHD).
  • Contributes to the monthly financial statement preparation by executing assigned journal entries, reconciling designated accounts, analyzing financial results, and compiling statistical data for reporting to management.
  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and prepares necessary journal entries.
  • Maintains accurate records for Property, Plant, and Equipment within the designated fixed assets system.
  • Calculates incentive compensation as per the employment agreements of relevant personnel.
  • Prepares and disseminates bi-weekly productivity reports.
  • Assists in the formulation of annual capital and operational budgets.
  • Supports the preparation of cost report documentation and data reporting.
  • Facilitates the submission of various reports required by regulatory bodies.
  • Contributes to the completion of the AHA Annual Survey.
  • Assists in gathering information necessary for renewing insurance policies.
  • Responds promptly to inquiries from employees, department managers, and vendors.
  • Adheres to all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with the Chief Financial Officer, administrative staff, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and organization in high-pressure situations.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues within Blue Mountain Hospital District.
  • Operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and webinars.
  • Performs additional duties related to the daily operations of the Finance Department as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Education and Experience

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to type 50 words per minute accurately.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Three or more years of experience in general ledger accounting.
