Role Overview:

The Patient Appointment Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing inbound communications for all SAC Health departments, ensuring a positive, timely, and professional interaction. Responsibilities include scheduling, confirming, canceling, and modifying appointments, as well as verifying and updating insurance details in the designated software system.

Work Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day, Monday-Thursday, with operational hours from 8:30am to 7:00pm.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Respond to incoming calls with warmth and professionalism.
  • Ensure each call aligns with SAC Health's standards and expectations.
  • Provide accurate information regarding appointment details, locations, and physician availability.
  • Efficiently manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and modifications in the company’s software.
  • Verify and update insurance information as necessary for all patients.
  • Confirm eligibility, verify patient demographics, authenticate callers, and gather relevant billing information.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity, effectively engaging with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Perform additional duties as specified in the official job description.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional studies in business or medical terminology preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Medical Assistant certification preferred but not mandatory; EPIC certification required for the specific module.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a Call Center or Appointment Center, or in a medical office setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient telephone skills and computer literacy are essential; ability to perform calculations such as discounts and percentages is required.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must communicate effectively with personnel, students, and patients through various mediums. Basic writing skills are necessary.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring sponsorship for employment visas.
