Position Overview


WSP Global Inc. is seeking a seasoned Senior Traffic Engineering Manager to join our expanding Traffic Engineering division. This role is pivotal in enhancing our Traffic Engineering capabilities, which encompass traffic design, signal systems, traffic assessments, and comprehensive traffic studies.


The Nashville team engages with a diverse clientele across various projects, including signal system design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), corridor evaluations, and intricate roadway developments.


This position offers an exceptional opportunity to refine your design and analytical skills while fostering relationships within WSP and with numerous clients statewide.


Your Contributions

As a project manager, you will:

  • Lead traffic engineering initiatives, focusing on signal design and operational enhancements.
  • Conduct traffic and crash analyses for municipal and state projects.
  • Oversee traffic studies and reviews of traffic impact assessments.
  • Support design-build projects and other traffic engineering assignments as required.
  • Develop and implement signal timing strategies.
  • Conduct intersection and corridor improvement studies.
  • Perform safety evaluations, including accident analysis and collision mapping.


Engage in professional traffic engineering tasks, inspecting proposed and existing conditions of roadways, intersections, signage, signals, and transportation corridors to ensure compliance with relevant standards and permits.


Design innovative solutions for strategic improvements in intersections and corridors, coordinating with authorities, sub-consultants, and clients for both immediate and long-term projects.


Manage the entire lifecycle of traffic projects, including rehabilitation, grading, drainage, and safety planning.


Oversee cross-functional teams of engineers and planners to ensure successful project execution, including budget management, task tracking, and compliance documentation.


Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in engineering, with a focus on traffic design.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Experience in ITS and signal design.
  • Proficiency in Microstation or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of DOT advisory circulars and procedures.


In-depth understanding of traffic engineering principles, project management, and related communication systems is essential. Experience in roadway planning, design, and construction management, particularly in complex infrastructure projects, is highly valued.


Strong technical writing skills and proficiency with various software tools are necessary for success in this position.
