Position: IT Support Specialist

Position Type: Full-Time Contractual Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute operational tasks essential for maintaining service continuity, demonstrating urgency in resolving issues and ensuring they are addressed effectively.
  • Provide on-site technical support for client-related, telecommunications, network, and data storage issues.
  • Log and prioritize support tickets based on urgency and impact.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents at the first point of contact whenever feasible.
  • Address a backlog of support requests based on priority, ensuring detailed documentation and updates throughout the resolution process.
  • Escalate or route tickets to the appropriate IT teams as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with business-defined incident service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Update the central knowledge base with solutions and known issues.
  • Assist in refining documentation of existing processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely within the IT department to coordinate service requirements and manage dependencies effectively.
  • Image workstations with Windows operating systems and install standard software packages as requested.
  • Relocate hardware as per defined setup standards and activate network ports as required.
  • Accurately tag assets and ensure they are recorded in our Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Document all changes in our CMDB throughout the lifecycle of devices.
  • Follow a defined retirement process for devices, including backups and recycling.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT sector.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various IT end-user hardware and network issues.
  • Familiarity with Windows 7, 10, and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Experience with hardware-related issues, including component replacement.
  • Knowledge of operating systems and software issues, including system crashes and performance problems.
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with IT Service Management technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.

Preferred:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of experience in a customer service environment.
  • Certifications such as ITIL v3 or v4, and A+ Certification.
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing production environment support.
  • Experience troubleshooting remote access solutions.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
