Key Responsibilities:

2. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.

3. Proficient in general administrative functions such as fee processing, tracking, records management, prioritizing tasks, and adaptability.

This position focuses on overseeing environmental compliance permits within the Land and Environmental Management sector, specifically for the Air Quality and Hazardous Materials Programs.

Primary Duties:

1. As the permit coordinator, the role involves managing approximately 1,000 permits issued by various state and local environmental agencies. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing fees related to: (1) minor air quality sources, (2) Title V permitted facilities, (3) LNG air permits, (4) PERP registrations, (5) CUPA permits, (6) fire department permits, (7) spill emergency response fees, and (8) certain water system permits. The coordinator regularly addresses inquiries from Environmental Field Specialists (EFS) regarding permit statuses and resolves discrepancies through direct communication with EFS and regulatory agency personnel, as well as by reviewing online compliance systems. This task constitutes 70% of the workload.

2. Collaborates with EFS to ensure the timely completion and submission of approximately 100 annual emission inventory reports to local air districts, accounting for 10% of the workload.

3. Responsible for traveling to the office 1-2 days a week to collect and digitize incoming mail, as well as preparing and dispatching outgoing mail via various carriers as needed, which makes up 10% of the workload.

4. Coordinates the annual payment of two complex compliance obligations: (1) AB 32 COI invoice and (2) BOE Hazardous Substance Environmental Fee and Hazardous Waste Generator Fee, representing less than 5% of the workload.

5. Provides support for special projects on an as-needed basis, comprising 5% of the workload.
