About the Role

Share Our Strength is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Senior Vice President of Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing results-driven strategies that leverage partnerships, programmatic expertise, government relations, advocacy, and communications to maximize access and participation in federal nutrition programs and policies that increase economic mobility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a combined multi-million-dollar budget.
  • Manage a high-performing team focused on collaboration, achieving results, and innovation.
  • Oversee all of the organization's advocacy efforts on state and federal legislative priorities.
  • Work closely with the Director of Advocacy to align on priorities and support the team to execute against our priorities.
  • Execute programmatic priorities, in partnership with non-profit and political leaders on the ground externally both locally and nationally, and maintain relationships with elected officials at the state and local level and with existing grantees.
  • Direct strategy, planning, and implementation of 5-year plans for No Kid Hungry campaigns.
  • Accountable for campaigns reaching guideposts in prescribed period of time and expansion of models that work to other geographies.
  • Build multi-layered coalitions with non-profit, corporations, government agencies, and community and faith-based organizations focused on increasing participation in federal nutrition programs.
  • Manage influential relationships at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the organization in media and in representing the organization as a high-level stakeholder.
  • Partner with Communications and Resource Development and Growth teams to lead our movement building work, ensure excellent communications with a diverse range of stakeholders, and ensure we are raising the funds we need to achieve our mission.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required with 10-15 years' previous work experience, graduate degree preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of people management experience required with a focus on coaching and developing teams in support of a positive team culture.
  • Must possess supervisory experience of a large team and the capability to lead an integrated campaign requiring attention to political and grassroots relationships, communications, and fundraising in over a dozen key states.
  • Successful budget management experience with multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Successful track record managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in developing program strategy for and in running a large program that is national in scope and local in implementation through a range of partnerships.
  • In-depth policy expertise and experience with both hunger and poverty-related policies.
  • Experience in leading advocacy efforts.
  • Proven relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Successful track record of achieving results through persuasion and collaboration.
  • Highly effective within a fluid, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Keen judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Must be flexible and highly organized.
  • Experience working with elected officials and community leaders.
  • Demonstrated passion for our work and mission.
