Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Advocacy and Policy to join our team at Global Refuge. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking and analyzing federal issues and trends related to refugees, unaccompanied children, and migration policy. They will work closely with the Vice President for Advocacy and Public Policy to develop and implement strategic policy priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the migration policy space and experience in developing and implementing complex advocacy programs. They will be able to build relationships with external stakeholders, including legislators and their staff, and think creatively about how to support and advance their efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze federal issues and trends related to refugees, unaccompanied children, and migration policy
  • Develop and implement strategic policy priorities in collaboration with the Vice President for Advocacy and Public Policy
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders, including legislators and their staff
  • Develop and implement complex advocacy programs with measurable outcomes
  • Collaborate with the Vice President and other Global Refuge staff to support educational opportunities that advance our policy impact and reputation as a thought leader
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work, International Relations, Public Administration, or law degree
  • 8 years of experience in a migration-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
  • Strong understanding of unaccompanied children in migration and refugees, and the undocumented immigrant community
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to serve as a registered federal lobbyist on behalf of the institution
