Job Title: Bilingual Community Outreach SpecialistJob Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and bilingual individual to serve as a Community Outreach Specialist in the Mayor's Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a strategic approach to engage, empower, and improve the quality of life of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the District of Columbia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct community outreach activities, including door-to-door visits, workshops, and meetings, to build relationships with AAPI community members and organizations.
  • Assist in planning and developing information materials, including translations and interpretations, to effectively communicate with the AAPI community.
  • Lead research projects to identify major problems affecting the AAPI community and provide recommendations to the Mayor and other stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with non-governmental AAPI organizations and other government agencies to promote mutual support, collaboration, and policy development.
  • Travel throughout the District to meet with residents, businesses, and community groups.
  • Provide administrative and program support to ensure the effective implementation of community outreach initiatives.
Requirements
  • Fluency in both English and Vietnamese, with the ability to speak and write effectively in both languages.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve community outreach goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, marketing, or publicity, preferably in a government or nonprofit setting.
