Environmental Services Specialist PRN (Days)

At Houston Methodist, the Environmental Services (EVS) Specialist plays a crucial role in upholding environmental and infection control standards in line with established protocols. This position is responsible for executing a variety of general cleaning duties in designated areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff, adhering to departmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Engages positively and professionally with patients, families, and team members. Actively participates in team meetings and discussions, fostering effective communication. Encourages a collaborative work atmosphere and contributes to a dynamic, team-oriented environment to achieve optimal outcomes. SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds promptly and courteously to inquiries for assistance from patients, staff, and visitors. Efficiently addresses all assignments to create a healing-conducive environment. Executes thorough room cleaning processes to facilitate timely patient admissions. QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Adheres to departmental protocols for room cleaning and discharge inspections, aiming to meet or exceed cleanliness standards. Achieves turnaround times for discharge, daily room cleaning, and assigned areas as required. During discharge processes, monitors, logs, and reports any safety or repair needs for equipment to management. Complies with policies, procedures, and safety regulations, observing standard infection control practices and OSHA guidelines. Communicates and documents any facility or patient-related concerns to management as necessary, addressing minor safety hazards. FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Utilizes and stores cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment appropriately during shifts. Manages time effectively and prioritizes daily tasks to minimize incidental overtime. GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Takes initiative for personal growth and development by participating in educational and training programs. Shares ideas for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental processes. This job description is not exhaustive; the employee may also perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent education preferred. WORK EXPERIENCE

Demonstrates the necessary skills and competencies to safely perform assigned tasks, as determined through ongoing assessments and evaluations. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, particularly regarding patient and employee safety. Capable of effectively communicating with patients, physicians, family members, and colleagues in a customer service-oriented manner. Demonstrates the ability to access relevant information within the department and hospital system to support departmental needs. Multi-task oriented, with the ability to complete tasks within designated time frames. Capable of accurately and efficiently performing duties with minimal supervision. Demonstrates safe and efficient use of housekeeping equipment and cleaning agents.
