This specialist will work closely with the Manager, Environmental and Siting, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify suitable sites for renewable energy projects, conduct environmental assessments, and navigate the regulatory landscape.

Key ResponsibilitiesSite Identification and Analysis
  • Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects, considering environmental, technical, and regulatory factors.
  • Conduct site feasibility studies, including environmental, technical, and regulatory assessments, to determine the suitability of sites for energyRe's projects.
  • Coordinate with GIS specialists to analyze spatial data and create site maps, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
Environmental Assessments
  • Perform environmental impact assessments (EIA) and studies to identify potential environmental risks and impacts of proposed projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work with environmental consultants and experts to conduct necessary fieldwork and evaluations, gathering data to inform project decisions.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards, staying up-to-date on changes and updates.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary environmental permits and approvals for projects, coordinating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, ensuring timely submission of applications and reports, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
Project Management
  • Manage timelines and budgets for environmental siting and assessment processes, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Track project milestones and ensure adherence to project schedules, making adjustments as needed to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental and siting considerations into project planning and execution, ensuring a holistic approach to project development.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Facilitate public meetings and consultations as required by the siting and permitting process, ensuring transparency and open communication with stakeholders.
  • Address concerns and feedback from community members and other stakeholders, providing clear and concise information to address their questions and concerns.
  • Represent energyRe in meetings with regulatory bodies and other external entities, advocating for the company's interests and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all site evaluations, assessments, and related correspondence, ensuring easy access to information.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports for the Manager, Environmental and Siting, and other senior management, providing timely and accurate information to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards and internal policies, maintaining the highest level of quality and accuracy.
RequirementsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)) are a plus.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental siting, assessments, and compliance, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing site identification and environmental assessment processes for large-scale projects.
Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and siting processes.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with GIS and spatial analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
