Position Overview

As a Data Engineering Specialist at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will engage in the strategic planning and execution of data architecture. This includes the development of databases, management of extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, and overseeing data management operations. Your role will involve implementing robust and sustainable data engineering solutions utilizing technologies such as Python, Kafka, and NiFi, along with crafting custom code for data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a diverse project team to enhance project delivery, operationalize complex data solutions, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Analyze system requirements and environments to assist the solution team in considering architecture and future enhancements.
  • Engineer effective solutions that drive significant impact and ensure client success.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proficiency in Python, encompassing development, execution, and testing of Python scripts.
  • 5+ years of experience managing the complete ETL pipeline, from data acquisition to database architecture.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with Kafka or NiFi.
  • Expertise in developing software for parsing and processing both structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in collaborative, cross-functional team environments.
  • Ability to create scripts and programs that convert various data types into usable formats, supporting project scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Possession of a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience in data engineering projects that support data science, AI, and ML initiatives.
  • Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with distributed data processing tools such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, or AWS EMR.
  • Experience in real-time data processing and streaming applications.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
  • Experience in data warehousing solutions, including AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in UNIX and Linux environments, including Shell scripting.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

Clearance Requirements

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.
