Position Overview
As a Data Engineering Specialist at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of data architecture, focusing on database development, extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, and comprehensive data management operations. Your role will involve implementing robust and scalable data engineering solutions utilizing technologies such as Python, Kafka, and NiFi, while also crafting custom code for data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a dynamic, Agile environment.
- Analyze project requirements and contribute to the architecture and operational framework, ensuring high-impact solutions that drive client success.
- Develop and maintain various scripts and programs to convert diverse data types into usable formats, supporting the project team in scaling, monitoring, and operating data platforms.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Python, including the development, execution, and testing of Python scripts.
- 5+ years of experience managing the complete ETL pipeline, from data acquisition to database architecture.
- 1+ year of experience with Kafka or NiFi development.
- Proficient in creating software for parsing and processing both structured and unstructured data.
- Experience working within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Possession of a Secret clearance and a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience in data engineering projects that support data science, AI, and ML implementations.
- Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, or AWS EMR.
- Understanding of real-time data and streaming applications.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
- Basic knowledge of UNIX and Linux commands and Shell scripting.
- Experience with Agile engineering methodologies.
Clearance Requirements
Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.

Compensation is determined by various factors, including location, education, skills, and experience. The projected salary range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 annually.
