Overview:


Assists in the daily operations of a healthcare facility by executing various tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Phlebotomy experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares patients for consultations, gathers assessment information, and ensures readiness based on specific requirements.

Supports in examinations, treatments, and other clinical procedures.

Assists with laboratory tasks, screening assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.


Handles incoming calls, providing information, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff, or initiating a triage slip for follow-up by medical personnel.

Coordinates patient appointments and inputs scheduling details into the computerized system.

Conducts follow-up calls to remind patients of their appointments.

Welcomes and directs patients, vendors, and visitors.

Registers patients by confirming that their records are current and accurate.

Updates information in the computer system and on patient charts as necessary.

Facilitates referrals for patients through insurance providers and other medical offices.

Collects payments from patients and issues receipts.

Organizes and maintains patient records.

Orders and manages office supplies.

Will assist with laboratory blood draws as needed.

Education and Experience:


Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or a graduate of a medical assistant program from an accredited postsecondary institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Experience in a clinical environment is preferred.

Phlebotomy experience is a valuable asset.

Certification/Licensure:


Current certification as a CMA through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) is required, along with completion of the necessary educational requirements.

Current CPR or BLS certification is mandatory within a specified timeframe.

Training in medication administration and pharmacology is essential for performing medication-related tasks.

Special Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this role are considered essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment, perform tasks, and use a telephone and keyboard. Must be capable of lifting and transferring patients.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, handle, feel, reach, talk, and hear.

The employee may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.

This position requires the employee to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Pushing and pulling equipment to provide care is necessary. Specific vision abilities required include frequent close vision, and occasionally distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
