The Lead Security Architect will be responsible for the design and implementation of security frameworks that adhere to regulatory standards and safeguard data integrity while aligning with the overarching business security objectives.

This role involves close collaboration with fellow security professionals to develop and enforce security measures and solutions that comply with established architectural guidelines and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development:
    • Conduct thorough security evaluations, pinpoint vulnerabilities in current security frameworks, and propose enhancements.
    • Architect security components to counteract potential threats.
    • Devise solutions that conform to enterprise security architecture frameworks and standards (e.g., SABSA, NIST 800-53, ISO) while supporting overall business and security strategies.
  • Risk Management:
    • Engage in risk assessments for emerging technologies and initiatives.
    • Implement secure configuration management protocols.
    • Contribute to the formulation of disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Record security requirements and controls essential for safeguarding information, systems, and technological assets.
    • Articulate and document the implications of new technologies on the existing security posture.
    • Maintain and update all documentation related to definitions and architectural activities.
    • Provide insights on security requirements for inclusion in procurement documents.
    • Relay current and emerging security threats to project stakeholders.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications like CISSP-ISSAP, TOGAF, or SABSA are advantageous.
Experience:

  • Proven experience in identifying deficiencies in existing security architectures.
  • Expertise in designing security frameworks to mitigate risks.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS) and network security practices.
  • Understanding of identity and access management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities and functionalities of network equipment.
  • Experience with remote access technologies and application firewall concepts.
  • Background in cybersecurity design for systems and networks, particularly in multi-level security contexts.
  • Experience with risk management processes and conducting risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with privacy principles and their application within organizational contexts.
  • Proficiency with various operating systems including Windows, Unix, and Linux.
  • Understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery operational plans.
Skills:

  • Extensive experience in Security Architecture & Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify gaps in existing architectures and develop new solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and security methodologies.
  • Experience in cybersecurity design for sensitive data handling.
