Position Overview

As a Labor Relations Advisor, you will play a pivotal role within the Labor and Employee Relations Department, providing essential support to management and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture effective relationships with supervisors and managers to address and resolve complex and sensitive issues.
  • Act as a liaison between command personnel and operational staff to ensure labor and employee relations matters are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Utilize established guidelines and demonstrate resourcefulness to develop solutions and provide sound recommendations to management.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on intricate and contentious issues, guiding management through challenges.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues that often involve ambiguous and conflicting information.

Employment Conditions

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be deemed suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
  • New hires will undergo an employment verification check.
  • Compliance with time-in-grade requirements is necessary for current federal employees.
  • Retired military members must adhere to specific appointment provisions.
  • Males born after a certain date must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Security clearance will be required prior to starting the position.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations, including remote sites, may be necessary.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate relevant experience and expertise in labor relations and employee management. This includes:

  • Experience in delivering briefings and reports to enhance understanding of labor relations issues.
  • Providing guidance to management during formal hearings and grievances.
  • Applying labor relations theories and regulations to identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience in negotiating labor agreements and providing training on related topics.
  • Proficiency in communication skills to present findings and recommendations effectively.

Education Requirements

There are no educational exceptions for this position. Candidates may qualify through a combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

This position may require overtime and could lead to noncompetitive promotions based on performance and regulatory requirements.
