Financial Operations Manager

The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the daily financial activities of multiple corporate entities, encompassing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger Functions, and Expense Management. This role includes overseeing month-end closing processes, financial reporting, and audit preparations, along with various additional projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and ensure alignment with the monthly General Ledger for closing purposes.
  • Assist in various accounting tasks such as collections, vendor invoice management, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Manage expense reporting, ensuring accurate recording of accruals and prepaid expenses, and support the vendor payment workflow.
  • Analyze sales and inventory data; collaborate with relevant departments to evaluate and report on inventory levels, cost of sales, and profit margins.
  • Generate comprehensive analytics covering all business aspects, including products, channels, and business lines, in partnership with Sales and Operations.
  • Work closely with the accounts receivable team to monitor cash collections, manage deductions, and address overdue accounts.
  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Support the calculation and reporting of bank covenants.
  • Prepare detailed analytics related to business performance metrics, KPIs, and internal reporting for senior management.
  • Contribute to gross margin analysis and inventory costing methodologies.
  • Execute special projects as required.
  • Assist with annual and periodic audits and reviews conducted by external accountants and internal teams.
  • Support the preparation of sales tax filings.
  • Encourage teamwork and provide coaching to staff, including timely feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all control procedures and report any risk issues to the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficient in financial and reporting software, particularly Sage 300.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; must interact professionally with diverse personalities.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of recognizing and aligning with organizational priorities.
  • Able to establish credibility and make decisive choices.
  • Results-driven with the capability to manage multiple projects alongside daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, particularly within major retail sectors.
  • Experience in both public and private accounting is advantageous.
