Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and ensure alignment with the general ledger for closing purposes.
  • Assist in accounting operations including collections, vendor invoice processing, account reconciliations, commissions, accruals, and journal entries.
  • Oversee expense management by accurately recording accruals and prepaid expenses; facilitate vendor payment processes.
  • Analyze and monitor sales and inventory; collaborate with relevant departments to evaluate and report on inventory levels, cost of sales, and gross margin.
  • Develop comprehensive analytics across all business aspects, including products, channels, and business lines, in partnership with Sales and Operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the accounts receivable team to track cash collections, deductions, and overdue accounts.
  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and budget preparation.
  • Support the calculation and reporting of bank covenants.
  • Prepare detailed business analytics, working alongside Sales and Operations.
  • Facilitate the reporting of business metrics, KPIs, and internal reports for senior management.
  • Contribute to gross margin analysis and inventory costing applications.
  • Execute special projects as required.
  • Assist with annual and periodic audits and reviews involving external accountants, bank examiners, and internal personnel.
  • Support sales tax compliance and filings.
  • Encourage teamwork; mentor staff, providing timely feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Adhere to all control procedures and report any risk issues to the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficient in financial and reporting software, including Sage 300.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; must interact professionally with a diverse range of personalities.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of recognizing and supporting organizational priorities.
  • Able to establish credibility and make decisive decisions.
  • Results-driven with the capability to manage multiple projects alongside daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a challenging environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Over 6 years of relevant experience, particularly with major retail organizations.
  • Experience in both public and private sectors is advantageous.
