Position: Senior Systems Engineer

Role Overview: The selected candidate will serve as the On-Site Representative (OSR) for the CIS project, assisting the Technical Direction Agent Team in overseeing operations at the contractor site and associated Integration and Test Facilities. A minimum of 10 years of experience in Submarine Combat Systems is required, along with familiarity with the SWFTS Agile Process and a comprehensive understanding of Systems Engineering principles. The OSR will aid in drafting Performance Specification requirements, including the formulation of new requirements based on system design and the retirement of outdated specifications. The ideal candidate will possess Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in the design and functionality of the CIS subsystem, individual services, and applications, as well as a working knowledge of the SWFTS Common Computing Environment (CCE) and Resiliency Computing Environment (RCE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe Performance Verification Testing at integration sites and provide recommendations for test result approvals to the Government team.
  • Monitor verification and validation of all CIS system PTR resolutions and CIS Use Case closures.
  • Attend all CIS End of Sprint Demos and provide assessments of performance, risks, and issues to the Government team.
  • Assist the TDA team in conducting weekly Problem Trouble Report review meetings, offering recommendations on PTR priority and urgency.
  • Support the BYG In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) in addressing all in-service fleet issues related to the CIS Subsystem.
  • Participate in all SWFTS OPS Demos and Operability Tests as a CIS SME, reporting issues and system performance outcomes.
  • Review and provide feedback on select contract deliverables, including CIS build procedures, Integrated Electronic Technical Manuals, Feature Design Documents, System Requirement Verification Matrix, Performance Verification Test Procedures, Test Completion Reports, Request for Variance spreadsheets, and System Subsystem Design Descriptions.
  • Provide on-site representation for sprint planning and daily activities, conveying government priorities to the contractor team and reporting issues back to the NUWC team.
  • Facilitate interactions with contractor development, integration, testing, and cyber teams.
  • Collaborate with SWFTS to enable CIS testing in SWFTS test bays.
  • Engage with SWFTS SE&I Architecture WGS and product teams.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in submarine combat systems.
  • Engineering experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of submarine SWFTS equipment.
  • Prior Navy experience with submarine combat systems is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.

Work Location: Manassas, VA - minimal-to-no telework available.
