SIGMA DESIGN is partnering with a prominent player in the automotive sector, looking for a skilled Controls Engineer to enhance their operations. This organization is recognized as a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks and specialized commercial vehicles in North America.

  • Annual salary range of $110,000 - $116,000, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, modify, and support hardware and software for PLC, CNC, HMI, and robotic control systems.
  • Manage and troubleshoot device-level networks.
  • Support servo and variable frequency drive systems, both hardware and software.
  • Implement and maintain machining monitoring systems, ensuring integration with higher-level systems.
  • Apply control technologies to enhance existing processes and develop new machining solutions.
  • Oversee control design specifications for new equipment procurement.
  • Provide technical assistance for machining operations.
  • Collaborate with Skilled Trades, Supervisors, and Process Engineers to diagnose and repair CNC and assembly machining systems.
  • Assist Skilled Trades personnel in interpreting technical drawings and OEM documentation for troubleshooting and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Expertise in manufacturing equipment design practices and standards, including PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and robotics.
  • Proficient in PC hardware and software applications.
  • Understanding of network and database operations.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings related to facilities and equipment.

Work Environment:
The role is primarily office-based, with occasional requirements to work in environments that simulate typical user conditions for design testing and validation. Travel may be necessary to engage with other facilities or suppliers.
