Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Services Representative to join our team at Carle Health. As a key member of our registration and admitting team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient registration processes, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete registration and admitting forms, obtaining signatures from patients and policyholders as needed.
  • Communicate detailed information clearly and concisely, actively listening to patients and addressing their concerns in a timely manner.
  • Interpret insurance coverage and benefits to patients, identifying potential financial hardship and working with patients to resolve issues.
  • Perform chart management duties, including ordering, sending, and receiving charts as necessary, and creating new clinic charts and medical record numbers for new patients.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance, and co-pays, as well as primary physicians, to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Perform prior authorizations for patients' admission/surgeries to ensure reimbursement for services and participate in denials management activities.
  • Receive and post co-payments as identified by third-party payers or patient insurance cards, maintaining cash drawers and balances according to procedures.
  • Register all patients at each visit, utilizing established policies for the capture of complete and up-to-date patient and insurance information.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate registration errors to HRC management for quality improvement, striving for a 5% or less error rate.
  • Scan all required patient information into software systems, ensuring information is retrievable and accessible by hospital staff.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • One year of relevant business, healthcare, or finance work experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task for long periods of time, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
