Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Services Representative to join our team at Carle Health. As a key member of our registration and admitting team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient registration processes, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete registration and admitting forms, obtaining signatures from patients and policyholders as needed.
  • Communicate detailed information clearly and concisely, actively listening to patients and addressing their concerns in a timely manner.
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) forms in accordance with Medicare laws, following up on necessary information to ensure accuracy.
  • Interpret insurance coverage and benefits to patients, providing essential information regarding Carle's Financial Assistance Program or payment arrangements.
  • Interview and identify patients with potential financial hardship or without third-party coverage, working with patients to resolve issues and provide necessary support.
  • Obtain, update, and verify patient demographics, insurance, and co-pays, as well as primary physicians.
  • Perform chart management duties proficiently, ordering, sending, and receiving charts as needed, creating new clinic charts and medical record numbers for new patients.
  • Perform insurance eligibility verification using Nebo for payer information, understanding terms and information listed on Nebo reports.
  • Perform prior authorizations for patients' admission/surgeries to ensure reimbursement for services, participating in denials management activities.
  • Receive and post co-payments as identified by third-party payers or patient insurance cards, maintaining cash drawers and balances according to procedures.
  • Register all patients at each visit, utilizing established policies for the capture of complete and up-to-date patient and insurance information.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate registration errors to HRC management for quality improvement, striving for a 5% or less error rate.
  • Scan all required patient information into software systems, making information retrievable and accessible by hospital staff.
  • Understand, review, and explain Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Notice of Privacy, and other pertinent admitting information to patients and/or family members.
