Job Overview

United Global Technologies is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Subject Matter Expert to provide specialized support and guidance in engineering practices.

This position is structured as an onsite role with a 4-day work week.

In this capacity, you will leverage your extensive knowledge to ensure compliance with codes, offer design insights, and evaluate alternative engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough design and technical assessments of new projects, significant modifications, and other engineering documentation as necessary.
  • Establish, execute, and uphold discipline-specific processes, procedures, and standards relevant to engineering tasks.
  • Stay informed on updates to Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, national standards, and industry codes pertinent to civil and structural engineering.
  • Influence and guide engineering professionals across the organization in the disciplined application of your expertise.
  • Represent the organization and provide authoritative technical recommendations within your field of expertise.
  • Maintain professional competency and remain updated on tools, methodologies, and standards applicable to civil and structural engineering.
  • Assist in project execution by identifying suitable engineering processes and standards for effective project delivery.
  • Foster relationships with external subject matter experts and the supply chain to enhance in-house capabilities.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving discipline-specific processes.
  • Educate and advise the organization on technical requirements and challenges specific to civil and structural engineering.
  • Encourage best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing within the engineering community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering is required.
  • Current certification as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards, particularly in piping and vessel design.
  • Familiarity with design and testing requirements as per applicable codes.
  • Experience in nuclear safety analysis and related processes.
  • Proficiency in preventing water hammer damage in piping systems.
  • Experience with evaluations of B31 Unlisted Components.
  • Competence in fluid flow and thermal analysis.
  • Knowledge of piping system analysis software, such as AutoPipe.
  • Prior experience with organizational procedures and standards.
  • Familiarity with Hose-in-Hose Transfer Lines (HIHTL) design and operation.
  • Experience as a member of an ASME code committee is advantageous.
Work Schedule

The standard work hours are from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.
