ROLE OVERVIEW
The Civil/Structural Engineer SME will serve as an Engineering Discipline Lead within the Engineering Programs Group, offering expert guidance in the discipline. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of applicable codes and standards, ensuring compliance and providing technical support for various engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed design and technical evaluations of new engineering designs and significant modifications.
  • Develop and maintain discipline-specific processes, procedures, and standards for engineering work.
  • Stay updated on changes to relevant codes and standards from the Department of Energy (DOE) and industry best practices.
  • Influence and guide engineering practices across the organization.
  • Represent the organization in technical discussions and provide authoritative recommendations.
  • Maintain expertise in engineering tools and methodologies relevant to the discipline.
  • Support project delivery by identifying necessary engineering processes and standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external subject matter experts to enhance in-house capabilities.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving engineering processes.
  • Communicate and educate the organization on technical requirements and best practices.
  • Utilize extensive engineering knowledge to address complex engineering challenges.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to team discussions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Current certification as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, particularly in piping and vessel design.
  • Experience with nuclear safety analysis and related processes.
  • Familiarity with piping system analysis software.
  • Prior experience with engineering procedures and standards.
Security and Access Requirements:
  • Specific security training and access credentials are required.
Work Schedule:
Standard working hours will be established, and any additional work outside of these hours must be coordinated accordingly.
