Position Overview
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Emergency Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient registration and ensuring a smooth admission process. This position involves engaging with patients or their family members to gather essential registration and billing information while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with patients or their representatives, either in person or via telephone, to collect necessary registration or pre-registration details.
  • Accurately obtain and verify insurance and billing information, ensuring proficiency across various insurance types.
  • Perform daily audits of patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy, maintaining a standard of over 95% accuracy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively while handling stress and making informed decisions.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse personalities, both in person and over the phone.
  • Prepare identification bracelets and related paperwork for patient care, ensuring timely routing to the appropriate departments.
  • Address the unique needs of patients, families, and visitors, identifying concerns and coordinating with relevant departments for resolution.
  • Assist in training new staff members on all aspects of the role and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor by keeping personal matters separate from work responsibilities.
  • Exhibit competence in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives through ongoing skill assessments and documentation reviews.
  • Be willing to learn and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide coverage for the Communication Center during breaks on the night shift, executing routine, emergency, and code paging in accordance with established protocols.
Physical and Mental Demands
This role requires a medium level of physical demand. Candidates must be capable of working independently and collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include prioritizing tasks, managing time efficiently, and maintaining attention to detail. The position necessitates the ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods, as well as the capacity to lift up to 40 pounds and assist patients as needed.
