Biomedical Equipment Specialist

Position Overview:

The organization is in search of a Biomedical Equipment Technician to support their operations at a leading facility focused on the maintenance of peritoneal dialysis machines and infusion pump devices. Candidates should possess an Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, or a High School diploma/GED with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing electro-mechanical devices. Experience with medical devices is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as equipment policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to workplace safety, striving for zero incidents.
  • Adhere to established Quality Management Systems and complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Ensure a steady workflow in the servicing line, working both independently and collaboratively to meet performance targets.
  • Conduct examinations, tests, repairs, and troubleshooting of medical devices using tools such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and pressure gauges.
  • Utilize technical expertise to analyze information, verify accuracy, and identify patterns to determine root causes of issues.
  • Draft clear and concise technical evaluation reports based on troubleshooting findings.
  • May assist in repair and testing operations as required.
  • May perform inspection duties in accordance with established procedures.
  • May provide training to new employees as necessary.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow detailed work instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required.
  • Proficient in computer applications necessary for data entry and navigation, including Microsoft Office Suite and specialized company software.
  • Capable of independently identifying root causes of device failures.
  • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis from device history logs and interpret diagrams and schematics for repair recommendations.
  • Skilled in writing clear reports that accurately reflect evaluation results.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, with frequent walking, bending, reaching, and fine motor skills.
  • Must be able to lift weights up to 30 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 41 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
