Maintenance and Engineering Operations Manager

The successful applicant will possess a minimum of five years' practical experience as a Maintenance and Engineering Manager within a dairy production setting, demonstrating robust technical expertise in machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, electrical systems, and associated equipment. The candidate should have a proven history of leadership, program management, and effective communication skills.

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team to ensure facility upkeep, repairs, preventive maintenance, compliance with stormwater regulations, and project management; liaise with suppliers, solicit proposals, manage work orders, and oversee budgets.
  • Direct all administrative and operational tasks related to plant maintenance, machinery repairs, and inspections.
  • Establish and uphold a regular inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid processing machinery, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, and related equipment.
  • Maintain essential business records that cater to the operational and administrative requirements of the facility.
  • Keep updated blueprints of facilities, utility layouts, and technical manuals for machinery and refrigeration systems for operational reference.
  • Guide, mentor, and lead staff in alignment with organizational policies and legal standards.
  • Supervise the design and manufacturing of equipment to meet production demands, ensuring compliance with safety regulations for product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, and pneumatic lines.
  • Document all changes to schematics and diagrams to maintain current plant records.
  • Ensure adherence to all components of the Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program.
  • Accountable for delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
  • Responsible for drafting, revising, and maintaining standard operating procedures and instructional manuals for departmental repairs and maintenance.

Essential Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, strong mathematical and statistical skills, proficient computer skills for data entry, report generation, and program tracking, along with excellent organizational and follow-through capabilities.

Physical Requirements: The employee is regularly required to use hands for manipulation, communicate verbally, and occasionally taste or smell. The role necessitates constant standing and walking, with occasional crawling, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and balancing. The employee may need to push, pull, lift, or move items weighing up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The employee may frequently encounter cold, wet, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to high noise levels in the workplace.
